OKTOBERFEST.

On Thursday night one of my professors who is American invited all of his students from NYU and at the Czech university he teaches at over to his house for pizza and drinks. He made about 30 pizzas from scratch. Apparently it's his grandfather's recipe. It was so delicious! I had so much fun talking to the Czech students and my professor and his wife. Their flat is very homey and it almost felt like I was back in kitchen in California.

So after we stuffed our faces with pizza, cookies, brownies, wine, and beer, we got on a bus at midnight en route to Munich!

At 5am we arrived in Munich. We couldn't go to our campground until 10am. So we went downtown and found a McDonalds. We proceeded to order food and sleep there for the next 4 hours. Around 8:30 a lady poked me in my sleep and yelled "WE DO NOT HAVE HOTEL!!!" so we were kicked out... even though we kept ordering food to be legitamate customers.

So we made our way to the campgrounds. I took a little nap, but most of our group went straight to the festival.

Inside the beer tents.
so glad my friends rented outfits... how beautiful do they look?
first beer of oktoberfest!
frolicking

our new friends... so Jess and I weren't able to get into a tent because we had backpacks, so we were hanging out outside and I was wearing my "TEAM AMERICA" shirt that I had made that morning. So this group of people all wearing matching shirts that say NYC-MUNICH OKTOBERFEST 2009 yell at me TEAM AMERICAAAA!!!!! so Jess and I ended up talking to them for a while. Then we decided that one of the guys in their group, Jason, and I should switch shirts.

They were a great group of people, I met up with them again the next day!

This happened a lot.

The drinking age in Germany is 16.
Beer vending machines at our campground.
Everywhere they were selling gingerbread hearts with sayings on them... you hang them around your neck and then eat them?
Sara's says "I like you." David's says "I love you."

Our whole crew at the campground....
On sunday morning a few of us opted to take the morning off and venture around Munich. We ended up a science museum, it was way awesome. I'm such a geek.

After a full day of festivities I sucessfully led the team back to the bus station. It was a difficult task, but we all made it back alive, maybe not so well, but definitely alive.
