Český Krumlov and Burčák!

NYU sponsors a few trips to places around the Czech Republic, though we are only allowed to sign up for one of them. They provide transportation, accommodations for a night, a couple meals, and activities! It's an awesome deal!
So this weekend we went to Český Krumlov. We left early Friday morning and it took about 3 hours to get there. Once we got there we had lunch and went on a tour of the castle grounds.

At the base of the castle there is a moat with bears in it. It is bizzare...

Beautiful views from the castle...
The old theater in the castle was absolutely gorgous.
After the castle tour we went to a cute restaraunt on the river for some drinks and snacks. I kept wonder why every restaraunt was called "Terasa," but then realized that it just means terrace.
Eating some zmrzlina!!!
That night we went to dinner with the whole group (there were 30 of us) and NYU paid the bill for everything except drinks so we all tried to order the most expensive thing on the menu... The thing is that in the Czech Republic food is never very expensive. So everyone ordered a steak or salmon dish, but even those were only about $12USD.
After dinner we went to every single bar in town I'm pretty sure...

The next day we went to the top of the castle tower where we had a great view of the city...

Then we went on a tour of the Eggenberg beer factory. The factory is 500 years old and they are still producing! Too bad the beer was terrible!

We got back to Prague around 6, just in time to get to the Burčák festival! Burčák is "young wine" that tastes like fruit juice. It's only in season here Sep/Oct.

Leaving for OKTOBERFEST on Thursday night! Taking a red-eye bus to Munich to arrive at 5am on Friday.

  1. You do realize you're living a fairy tale, right? Um, thank you so much for the postcard! Unfortunately, it doesn't have your mailing address in Prague...
