Fall Break Stop 1 of 4- MADRID!

Last week we had a mid-semester break in which we had 10 days to travel around Europe!

Our route:

Madrid for 3 nights->Barcelona for 3 nights-> Amsterdam for 2 nights-> and finally Copenhagen for 2 nights.

First stop, Madrid!
Flying into Madrid reminded me so much of LA... lots of desert, and some suburban tracked housing! Beautiful sunset flying in!

Finally in Madrid! yay!
The city center... beautiful at night!
I stayed with my friend Clare who is studying there for the semester. She made me an awesome Spanish Tortilla for breakfast- mashed up potatoes and eggs made into an omelet= my new favorite meal to cook!

Then Clare took me around to some of the sights- this is is front of the Palace.
The Crypt of this Catholic church.

Then we rented a row boat in Park Retiro!

Such a beautiful day!
Fall!
Then off to the Reina Sofia to see Guernica!

It was so much bigger than I thought it was!

That night I met up with my friend from home, Alex!
I went to the zoo with Alex and her friend the next day!

A statue in the city center... maybe Stanford and Cal can be friends?
Went to the Park again with Sarah and as we sat on a bench we watched these ladies put on an amazing fan dance for us... extremely entertaining!
next stop Barcelona!
